Weekday Mornings from 6-9.
I was talked into ending a seven year sabbatical behind a microphone in January 2008 by Jeni Grouws and by my wife Amy. Jeni needed a morning show partner, and Amy needed me to get out of the house once in a while. Working from an office at home tends to keep you from getting out much, which is unacceptable when you live in a beautiful & eclectic place like Decorah, Iowa. Morning radio is something I’d never done in my previous 14 years on the air in Illinois, Indiana & Kentucky. That plus getting to share one of the most amazing & diverse on air music lists anywhere is enough to get me up these days at 5 each morning.
Amy & I moved here in 2007. She teaches Music Theory at Luther College. Outside of KDEC, I’m fortunate to have one of the weirdest jobs in the world as a field researcher for a music & radio research company, which keeps me busy listening to other radio stations around the country at all hours of the day. Transcribing KDEC FM would give me fits, which of course, lets our music director know he's doing a great job.
